FISHING:
Ascension Bay and Bocapaila are world famous fishing flats for Bonefish, Permit, Tarpon, Snook and Barracuda. Fishing from
the boat or wading are first class.
Guides:
We have very professional native guides with more than 10 years of experience, who know Ascension Bay and Boca-Paila Lagoons
as the back of their hand and will put you on the fish. Some of them speak very good English and others speak “Fishing
English”.
We have a program with 2 guides per boat, one head guide and a young apprentice, both have very good eyes. This helps very
much when wading: each angler has a guide, when learning to cast or to see the fish, one guide poles and the other is with
the angler at the casting platform. This program does not apply for summertime or with special discount rates.
Boats:
We count with 15 Mexican made boats, commonly know as “pangas” with 4 stroke, 40 or 50 HP Yamaha engines, properly
adapted with floor, casting platform, seats, rod holders and fiber glass pushing poles.

OTHER ACTIVITIES:
Dolphin Tours
We will go by boat searching for wild bottle nose dolphins. There is a group living permanently in Sian Ka’an. Through
six years of operation we have developed a relationship with them, where they come to see us to the same place, almost every
time, not for food, but curiosity. The same day we will look for Caguama and White Turtle. Humans are very spooky to them;
they don’t trust the “ecotour” yet.
In the middle of Ascension Bay we will stop at the frigate nesting mangle. Here we will have the opportunity to observe local
birds in their sexual flirting and nesting, such as the pelican, bobo, comoran and other species. Flamingos, spoon bills,
eagles, parrots and herons are common to see. At the end of the trip we will stop at one of the reefs to look for different
corals, fish and other species.
Manatees and Mayan Ruins Tour
We will go out looking for Manatees; this peaceful and quite lovely animal is in risk of extinction. Hundreds of them used
to swim in Sian Ka’an waters. Today, only few of them survived the human hunting. Since it’s a biosphere reserve
they are strongly protected. No touching is allowed, they are very shy. Encounter possibilities are lower than dolphins, however,
we might find dolphins in that area, too.
Nearby we will stop to visit the ancient Mayan Ruins named Muyil, those buildings used to be a small town of commerce. The
village used to help the canoes travel between Yucatan and Honduras trading different products from the valley with goods
from the mountains.
At the end of the day we will stop to snorkel a beautiful coral reef.
Snorkel from the Lodge
Snorkeling is one of the easiest, safest and most delightful activities to explore the aquatic wilderness. We will give you
a personalized training to make sure you can relax and enjoy. Our program is not only about admiring the life around the reef,
but learning one or two things it. During the week we will be looking for a number of species to get a good photo collection.
