Fishing on the Big Thompson is really starting to get into full swing. The flows are just perfect and the fish are looking up. Work the edges methodically with dry dropper rigs and watch closely for rising fish. There are lots of caddis available to the fish, but a well drifted hopper will also produce plenty of strikes.
Spend some time exploring new water. With other options still a little high the river will be busy this weekend. There's a lot of water on the Big T that gets overlooked. A short hike will often produce solitude and exceptional fishing.
A 7- 8' 3 weight is ideal for fishing the Thompson. Be sure to cary a few 7.5' 4X leaders and spools of 4 and 5X tippet.
