Fished the Eagle today in the Wolcott area. We bounced around a bit in search of rising fish. There were bugs everywhere, caddis of all sizes, brown stoneflies, and of course horseflies (we didn't have this pattern in the box). Unfortunately we were unable to coax a fish to the surface until 4:30 when a healthy rainbow ate a tan size 14.
Fish were not very eager to eat all day but we did manage one here and there. Soft hackle pheasant tails, caddis emergers, and midge patterns worked sporadically. All in all a good day but would like to see more fish looking up. (The wading was tough so wear your cleats!)
