midges, pmd's and hoppers

Midge fishing below the dam in the morning is fantastic. Sight fishing to rainbows and browns in the Cable, ESPN and Catch and Release holes are knockout in the morning, fishing size 24 black beauty and gray midges is great from 9:30 to 11:30 above the famous Texas Hole. PMDs are coming off better than they have any year since 1999 in Simon, Duranglers and Last Chance riffle making for excellent afternoon dryfly fishing and the lower river fish are looking up for hoppers all day. If you are looking for good variety the Juan is the place to be. Bring your sunscrean.

The Animas is running about 450 through town and is fishing good as the sun comes up and as the sun goes down, typical freeston fishing. Wear your studs. Creek fishing  in the Durango area is off the charts, fish the biggest dry fly in your box and have a great time. All of the creeks in the DGO area have BIG trout populations and are UNCROWDED.
