The river flow combined with 4" of snow made for an interesting day. In total there were 13 fish landed with another 6 hooked in the river. There were some fish rising in the ponds but no takers. Despite the high flows, the fish in the river were active and feeding provided we got our flies to the correct depth. The clouds and snow stopped around 2pm, and the fishing success increased. The usual suspects like Prince Nymphs, San Juan Worms, and Flashback Pheasant Tails all worked well. The key was to get the flies down quickly into the "fish zone" without hanging up in the tail out water. It was a fun day and fishing was pretty good given the weather. The flows have come down in the river since the 23rd, so the fishing should only improve.
