I briefly checked out Tarryall Creek, as well as the Tomahawk and Badger Basin Accesses on Saturday and today (5/29) and found conditions to be pretty consistent in all three spots. There is enough water in each of these places to make the fishing challenging, but certainly not impossible. And by the way, I am now only slightly doubting that the next great ice-age is imminent. After the string of terrible weather days I have put together this spring, I am so amazingly pleased to report that I did not have to deal with any end-of-May weather apocalypse on this trip....really!
Tarryall Creek is particularly vexing to me when the flows are up. I am always able to catch fish there, but never in the method I think is going to work. The only fish I made contact with were while simply dragging a very small olive Bugger in the current right up against the bank. I guess I'm admitting that the first one may have been something of a "surprise". But hey, we take what the fishing gods give us and adapt....right?
Tomahawk and Badger Basin were both similar in level of water and numbers of trout caught. Although in both places, a caramel colored egg combined with various droppers seemed to be the most effective method of take.
