Had the chance to fish the Upper Colorado on Monday and it did not dissapoint! Hit the Breeze, Lower Buck, and Lower Parshall accesses before the day was finished. Early in the morning fish were active and jumping on big black streamers. Peanut Envy and Sculpzillas were the most productive. Had one large rainbow in the 22-23" range and a mix of browns from 13-16". As the the afternoon approached we turned our rigs to nymphs. Big black stones followed by midges, baetis, and caddis were our primary weapons. With several more fish landed and nice weather, we weren't too dissapointed that no salmon flies were present and there were only a few small caddis bouncing around. Flows were steady around 350 cfs and we had no trouble getting around. Rumor has it that the salmon flies are around pump house......
Get out there early and fish streamers and nymphs before focusing on surface action....you will be surprised!
