Fly Tying Classes with Carl Pennington

Fly Tying Classes are set to resume on Wednesday, February 15th at 6:00 pm with Montana Fly Company signature fly tier Carl Pennington.

Carl's classes are four consecutive Wednesday nights starting at 6 pm and cost $175 for the four sessions. The last class will be held on Wednesday, March 7th.

Students will learn basic techniques that are the building blocks for becoming a successful fly tyer.

Fly Fish Belize! A Hosted Trip to Turneffe Flats Lodge

Fly Fishing School

Fly Fishing schools are held on Saturdays from spring to fall here at the shop.  The full day school covers all of the skill sets needed to become an accomplished angler; casting, fishing technique, fly presentation, reading the water, basic entomology, equipment understanding, knots, and where to fish.  Todd Clough, our head instructor, has taught fly fishing for 30 years and is the most experienced fly fishing instructor in Colorado.  Don't forget to check our On-Stream school to put your new skills to work.

On-Stream School

On-the-stream schools are held on Saturdays from Spring to Fall.  This full day school is held on private water at a ranch approximately one hour from Denver.  In-town school students have the first chance at signup for these schools.  The class spends five to six hours on the water honing the skills learned during the In-town fly fishing school.  Students will have a chance to fish nymphs, dries, and streamers in a private setting perfect for learning.  Our guide coordinator, Reid Baker teaches the class.

Save $25 if booked with the In-Town School!

Recommended Materials: 

Fishing gear you may already own, however, gear will be provided.

Completion of In-town fly fishing class.

Additional Info: 

Class includes instruction, rod fees, use of equipment, flies, and terminal tackle.

Class does not include transportation, fishing license, or gratuities for instructors.

Black Canyon of The Gunnison - 3 Day Camp Float

Join Anglers All for a 3-Day 2-Night Hosted Camp Float in the awe-inspiring Gunnison Gorge. The Black Canyon and the Gunnison Gorge are two of the most scenic places on earth with jagged landscapes and plentiful wildlife. Oh, and the fishing is unbelievable too! Last year we were lucky enough to catch the peak of the fabled Salmon Fly hatch - an opportunity not to be missed!

Pre-Requisites: 
  • Colorado Fishing License
  • Backpack or Shoulder Duffel
Recommended Materials: 
  • Breathable Waders (can be rented)
  • Wading Boots (can be rented)
  • 2-Pairs of shoes or hiking boots
  • Sleeping Bag & Pad (can be rented)
  • 5 or 6 weight fly rods with floating lines (can be rented)
  • Toiletries & Presciption Meds
  • Rain Gear
  • Hat
  • Camera & Batteries
  • Vest with flies, leader, tippet, shot, indicators, floatant, tools etc.
  • Sunscreen
Additional Info: 

Lodging is available (and highly recommended) in Hotchkiss the night before launch as well as the night after the float ends. The cost is an additional $100 per night, but dinner and breakfast are included. Staying at the North Rim Lodge befor and after the trip makes the logistics much easier. Please inquire for more details about lodging.
