Anglers All media manager, Davis James, recently made a pilgrimage to visit our friends at Winston Rods in Montana. While at the legendary headquarters in Twin Bridges, Davis had the opportunity to take a first look at the new Alpha+ series of fly rods.
A walk through the Winston flagship included company history, and a tour of the factory with Winston rep. Adam Hutchinson. But most exciting, was to see some of the first Alpha rods coming off the line and getting their final mark with the calligrapher’s pen, a classic Winston touch.
Winston’s new Alpha+ series is designed specifically for heavy lines, wind resistant flies, and big fish. It’s a fast-action rod by Winston’s standards, even pushing beyond the Boron III Plus series. The new Alpha+ also includes Boron technology through the butt section of the rods, and is beefed up throughout, making this a dynamite rod for big fish anglers.
