Fishing the Flat Tops Wilderness and the Gunnison Gorge

As a part of our travel program, we love to explore far-flung destinations. But as spring arrives, we’re looking forward to fishing some of our favorite home waters right here in Colorado. This summer, we have multiple trips on the calendar to the Flat Tops Wilderness and the Black Canyon of the Gunnison.

Both of these experiences are trips of a lifetime. No planes and no passports are required. And with the recent headlines about global pandemics, we don’t have to worry about future restrictions on international travel. Consider getting away with us this summer to one of these spectacular – and local – destinations:

 Fishing The Flat Tops Wilderness

We’ve teamed up with the great folks at Flat Tops Wilderness Guides to provide horseback and 4-wheel drive access to some of Colorado’s most remote and scenic fly fishing destinations.

With hundreds of alpine lakes and hundreds of miles of wilderness trout streams, the Flat Tops is an angler’s paradise. If you enjoy light line fly rods, dry flies and wild country, this is a trip you must experience.

We have two different experiences available in the Flat Tops:

.

Wilderness Camp Option:

The first option is a 4-day, 3-night remote camp experience. On this trip, we will use side-by-side ATVs as our primary mode of transportation. We’ll be able to fish alpine lakes and streams within easy striking distance of camp. This trip includes all meals, non-alcoholic beverages, complete camp setup and four days of fishing. This trip is priced at $1,900.

Lodge Option:

The second option in the Flat Tops is a 3-day, 3-night lodge-based trip. Guests on these trips will stay in a comfortable mountain lodge and access waters by horseback. On this trip, guests can expect at least 1.5 to 2-hours of horseback riding each day. No previous experience is necessary. This trip includes meals, non-alcoholic beverages, lodge accommodations and three days of fishing. This trip is priced at $1,845.

We have two hosted trips already reserved for the remote camp option:

July 27 – 30: Wilderness Option - Hosted by Andrew Pulford (2 spots remaining)

August 7-10: Wilderness Option - Hosted by Davis James (2 spots remaining)

August 13-16: Lodge Option - Hosted by TDB (6 spots available)

In addition to these hosted trips, we can help you book a trip on any open dates of your choice throughout the summer. For details and availability, please contact Anglers All travel coordinator, Andrew Pulford. Reach him at the fly shop at 303-794-1104 or at andrew@anglersall.com.

Gunnison Gorge Float Trips

The Black Canyon of the Gunnison is a trip that must be on every angler’s list. And this year, we have reserved prime dates for an upcoming Gunnison Gorge trip.

The weekend of July 10th-12th is now reserved exclusively for Anglers All customers. July and August provide some of the Gorge’s most predictable flows, consistent hatches, and stable weather for a trip through the Gorge. We have reserved 4 boats for Anglers All guests. This will help accommodate single anglers or groups of three. We currently have only three spots remaining for this July trip! Give us a call now at 303-794-1104 or stop by the fly shop if you’d like more details.

In addition to these reserved dates, we can help you book a trip on the dates of your choosing. There is still good availability from mid-July through mid-October. July, August and September on the Gunnison River provide some of the finest dry fly and hopper fishing anywhere in Colorado. Then from September into October, the streamer fishing through the Canyon can be outstanding for trophy brown trout.

This is a 3-day, 2-night trip, floating from Chukar Trail to Pleasure Park, through the heart of the Black Canyon. Your guides will set up camp, prepare meals and break down camp each day. The trip includes three days of guided fishing, non-alcoholic beverages and ground transfers from Pleasure Park to Chukar trail. The trip is priced at $1,815 per angler.

For details and specific availability – whether on our reserved trip in July or any other dates – please contact our travel coordinator, Andrew Pulford. You can reach him at the fly shop at 303-794-1104 or send him an email at andrew@anglersall.com.
