2019 State of the Fly Shop: A Word from the Owner

It’s 2019 and the fly fishing world is anxiously awaiting spring hatches, ice off, and the arrival of migrating tarpon. We are approaching another busy time in the fly shop and reflecting on the year past.

In both cases I think about our old friend Dick Mill. We lost Dick a few months back and we miss him greatly. Today would have been Dick’s 90th Birthday. He was a great influence on us here in the shop, we loved his stories, and he would occasionally sit down at the vise and show us how to tie the perfect egg.

Dick loved his family, fishing, tying flies and hanging out in the shop. Most of you probably have your own story about him, or he and Toby (his faithful 4 legged friend). Right up until he passed, he was tying flies to be sold at Anglers All. I look at those fly bins and have a hard time putting anything else in them. Dick was a great friend and we will miss him.

This year marks the 65th anniversary of our business. We are proud of it. We are proud of our relationships with great humans, fisherman, and ambassadors of fly fishing. We are excited for our anniversary party and customer appreciation day The Clave on April 20th, as well as, the famed Mile High 25 in June.

We will continue to champion clean water, habitat conservation, and responsible business practices in 2019.  There are so many people that have helped us grow over the years and if you are reading this, you are one of them.

Thank you,

Chris
