Around here, we talk a lot about the fact that there is no perfect pack or vest. Each pack we carry from Yakoda, Simms, Patagonia, Fishpond, Umpqua and Orvis excels in certain days on the water, but may not get you every feature for the next day out. Some anglers like a more traditional vest design, while others like to carry minimum gear on their hip, or in a sling. Anglers spending long days on the water may opt for a backpack. Those who spends a lot of time fishing out of a boat or in nasty conditions often reach for a fully waterproof version of the pack offerings to keep all their gear dry. Stop by the shop, try on a few packs, load them with fly boxes and see how they feel. And be sure to ask the in shop experts which they use. I am sure we all have a few favorites!
