Summer Fly Fishing Classes at Anglers All

After a wet and snowy spring, we’re glad that summer weather has finally arrived here in Colorado and along the Front Range. As we look forward to all the fishing opportunities over the next few months, we wanted to highlight our upcoming summer classes here at the fly shop.

Fly Fishing 101

The goal of our Fly Fishing 101 class is to help new anglers become self-sufficient on the water the very next day. We will cover equipment, rigging and knots, how to approach and read the water, basic entomology and fly selection, casting and fly presentation, landing and releasing fish.

Our Fly Fishing 101 classes are held on Saturdays from 9:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. This month, we will have 101 classes on July 13th and on the 27th. We will also offer two Saturday classes in August and September.

Fly Fishing 101 classes usually sell out. So we recommend signing up early to get your first choice of dates. For more information, please visit our Classes Page. You can also visit us at the fly shop, or call us at 303-794-1104.

Fly Fishing Entomology

Back again this year by popular demand, our Fly Fishing Entomology Class will be offered on Saturdays, August 3rdand September 21st. Led by Patrick Tennyson, CEO of the Butterfly Pavilion, this class provides a fascinating look at the world of aquatic insects below the surface.

The greatest weakness of many anglers is not having a clear understanding of aquatic bug life and what it means for trout. You will come away from this glass with an improved knowledge of fly patterns and the insects they imitate. You will be able to identify the major groups of aquatic insects, their life cycles, and when they are a food source for trout.

This class includes a morning session in the classroom at Anglers All. Then, participants will enjoy an afternoon session on Bear Creek to catch and identify aquatic insects in their specific micro-habitats.

You can find details and register on our Classes Page.

Distance and Double Haul Casting Class

A distance casting class will help you do more than just the obvious – cast farther. It will also improve your shorter casts, hone your accuracy, and teach you to battle wind more effectively.

Our Distance and Double Haul Casting Class will be held on Saturday, August 24th from 11:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. International Federation of Fly Fishers Master Certified Casting Instructor, Jonathan Walter, will teach the class.

Participants in this class will have the opportunity to learn the critical elements of loop control, line speed, and line carry as it relates to distance casting. To learn more, please visit the Casting Class Page.
