Is anyone else ready for summer? While the cold weather won’t seem to let go, we’re busy planning our summer fishing excursions. And we’ve been working hard to bring you some awesome backcountry fly fishing opportunities here in Colorado! Here’s a look at what we have on our summer travel calendar, right here in our back yard…
Flat Tops Wilderness Adventures
We are excited to be heading to the Flat Tops Wilderness Area this summer for some incredible horseback fly fishing adventures. The Flat Tops is known for its backcountry fly fishing. From high alpine lakes above 12,000 feet, to meandering mountain meadow streams, this wilderness area is loaded with fishing opportunities.
This summer, we’re offering horseback trips to some of the area’s remote and scenic waters to fish for cutthroat trout and brook trout. Guests will enjoy an authentic Colorado mountain wilderness experience. We will stay in comfortable camps with canvas wall tents and hot meals cooked over an open fire.
Each morning, we will saddle up and leave camp on horseback to spend the day fishing the Flat Tops’ renowned waters. With a maximum group size of five anglers, you’ll enjoy the solitude and quiet of the wilderness. Based on the preferences of each group, we may spend the day throwing dry flies and streamers to big cutthroat on a high alpine lake. Or we may choose to visit one of the area’s productive creeks, where we will cast to rising trout on light line rods.
Our access point to the Flat Tops Wilderness is located near Gypsum, Colorado. We will be offering 4-day, 3-night trips from July through early September. At $1,500 per angler, this includes hot campfire meals cooked by your guides, wall tent lodging with comfortable cots (bring your own sleeping bag), and four days of memorable horseback riding and fly fishing amid the spectacular wilderness scenery.

Gunnison Gorge Multi-Day Float Trips
Experience a 3-day, 2-night camp float down the Black Canyon of the Gunnison this summer. If you’ve never seen Colorado’s Gunnison Gorge, this is a trip that should be on every angler’s list.
We have trips available during the late summer when hopper fishing is at its peak on the Gunnison River. Sure, we love to fish the salmon fly hatch in June. But later in the season, the hopper fishing here is one of Colorado’s most underrated fly fishing opportunities!
Later in the summer there are fewer people on the river, the weather is warm, and the flows are much more predictable. You can be throwing big hoppers against the bank to the Gunnison’s big rainbow and brown trout.
If single day trips are more your speed, we have great options on the Colorado, Eagle, Arkansas, and Yampa rivers in Colorado as well as options in Wyoming on the North Platte River.
